Phnom Penh never stands still. From early morning, the city's markets and streets fill with vendors setting up their stalls, motorbikes weaving through traffic and neighbours stopping for a chat over coffee or a bowl of noodles. It is a city best discovered on foot, with a camera ready.
This set brings together photographs of the markets and street scenes I captured in Phnom Penh during our 2024 trip. Markets are the heart of daily life here: places to shop, eat, trade and meet, and endlessly photogenic, with their colours, textures and constant movement. The streets offer something different, a mix of old and new where traditional trades share the pavement with modern cafés and rising towers.
Above all, these images are about the people of Phnom Penh: friendly, hard-working and often happy to share a smile. Their daily routines say as much about Cambodia today as any monument or skyline.
