Faith

Since 1997, I've been photographically exploring faith as a cultural and spiritual force across continents. This ongoing project documents the diverse ways humanity expresses religious devotion—from grand cathedrals to humble roadside shrines, from elaborate ceremonies to quiet personal prayer.

This collection is not a scholarly comparative religion study. Rather, it's a personal visual journey—a curated gallery of sacred moments, rituals, and expressions of belief that demanded to be photographed. Each image represents a moment of discovery, offering glimpses into the infinite ways people connect with the divine.

The photographs span multiple faiths and geographies: Christianity across Europe, Asia and the Americas, Buddhism throughout Asia, Hinduism in India and Bali, Islam's architectural expressions, and traditions blending ancient beliefs with contemporary practice. Together, they reveal faith's universal human impulse while celebrating the beautiful diversity of its manifestations.

These images document the intersection of faith and daily life as I've witnessed it worldwide—my personal perspective on how the sacred permeates ordinary existence and transforms communities through shared belief.

The photo books are available in both Dutch and English versions via the links below.
