Objects in the landscape Serifos

Several kilometers beyond Megalo Livadi, abandoned trucks sit incongruously in open fields—more remnants of Serifos's mining past. These vehicles once transported ore from mines to processing facilities or ports, essential equipment in the island's industrial operations.

Decades of exposure have transformed functional machinery into sculptural objects. Rust claims metal surfaces, creating rich orange-brown patinas that harmonize unexpectedly with Serifos's iron-rich, rust-colored soil. Vegetation slowly engulfs chassis. The trucks become part of landscape rather than intrusions upon it.

These images show abandoned machinery as landscape elements, documenting how time and nature transform industrial waste into something approaching aesthetic interest—though whether these rusting trucks represent tragic waste or honest historical record remains open to interpretation.
