Myanmar street photos

Street photography forms an essential part of documenting any journey, and Myanmar's cities offered compelling scenes of daily life. Yangon (formerly Rangoon), Mandalay, and smaller urban centers each presented distinct character and atmosphere.

Yangon's colonial-era architecture creates unique backdrops—British-built structures weathered by tropical climate stand alongside traditional teahouses where locals gather throughout the day. Mandalay, Myanmar's cultural heart, bustles with markets, monasteries, and the everyday rhythms of a deeply traditional society.

Myanmar's streets reveal a country where ancient customs persist alongside contemporary life. Monks in saffron robes walk past street vendors, traditional longyis (sarongs) remain everyday wear, and betel nut sellers occupy corner stalls throughout cities.

These photographs capture spontaneous moments and characteristic scenes from urban Myanmar—documenting a way of life that continues despite political turmoil.
