Thailand, Laos and Cambodia

Our 2024 Southeast Asian adventure took us through Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia over two and a half weeks. Traveling with the “van Eijck” crew added energy and shared discovery to the journey as we explored three distinct cultures connected by the Mekong River.

Each country offered unique character: Thailand's bustling urban energy and ornate temples, Laos's tranquil landscapes and preserved French colonial influence, and Cambodia's ancient Angkor temples alongside complex recent history. Together, these nations showcase Southeast Asia's cultural diversity, architectural heritage, and the resilience of communities shaped by both tradition and turbulent pasts.

These photo essays document our journey through themed collections—from Angkor's temple complexes and Luang Prabang's morning alms ceremonies to vibrant markets, street scenes, and the Mekong River's fascinating life. Each gallery captures specific aspects of this multifaceted region, revealing the stories, landscapes, and moments that made our Southeast Asian expedition unforgettable.
