Greece

Our first Greek journey in 2023 took the classic island-hopping route through the Cyclades. Departing from Piraeus, Athens' historic port, we explored three distinct islands—Sifnos, Serifos, and Milos—before concluding with several days in Athens itself.

Each Cycladic island offered unique character: Sifnos with its renowned pottery traditions and excellent cuisine, Serifos with its dramatic hilltop Chora and abandoned mines, and Milos with its extraordinary volcanic geology and colorful fishing villages. The islands share the iconic white-and-blue architecture synonymous with Greece, yet each maintains distinct personality shaped by geography, history, and local culture.

Greece delivered everything expected—stunning Mediterranean light, ancient history layered throughout landscapes, warm hospitality, and nice food—while surprising us with lesser-known stories: abandoned mining heritage, remote monasteries clinging to cliffsides, and the contrast between tourist-focused areas and authentic island life.

These photo essays document our Greek introduction, capturing both the imagery of the Cyclades and the unexpected elements beyond the postcard views.
